"La Casa Azul" – A Series Inspired by Frida Kahlo

Contemporary series

La Casa Azul” is the first piece in a five-part series inspired by Frida Kahlo’s legacy. The idea emerged during the 2018 Frida Kahlo exhibition in Budapest (Hungarian National Gallery), where the artist spent six transformative hours immersed in Kahlo’s world. The goal: to create something remarkable, both respectful and original.

A year of careful planning ensured the works avoided pop art clichés, resulting in a series that feels organic and zeitgeisty. It reflects the duality of the lockdown era: routine, permanence, and predictability contrasted with a longing for adventure, risk, and the unknown.

This series reconnects viewers with a sense of vitality, Eros, and the energy of living. It is both a tribute to Kahlo and a bold celebration of renewal, creativity, and the human spirit’s capacity for transformation.
